This peptide corresponds to 15 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human TLR5.
PEP-0316 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20186.

Target Information

TLR5 is a Type I membrane protein belonging to the Toll-like receptor family and participates in the innate immune response to microbial agents.
It mediates detection of bacterial flagellins and acts via MyD88 and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion, and inflammatory response.
TLR5 binds to TIRAP and MyD88 via their respective TIR domains. It is highly expressed in liver, detected in lung, and at very low levels in most other tissues.
The TLR5 gene locus is associated with susceptibility to Salmonella. Inbred mouse strains vary in resistance to S. typhimurium: susceptible (BALB/c, C57BL/6, C3H/He), intermediate (DBA/2, C75L), and resistant (A, CBA).
The MOLF/Ei strain, highly susceptible to infection, has a unique TLR5 haplotype and lower TLR5 expression.
A common TLR5 stop codon polymorphism that disrupts TLR5 signaling is linked to susceptibility to Legionnaires’ disease, highlighting the importance of TLR5 in innate immunity.
