Product Specific Information
Rat anti-Mouse P2X7 antibody, clone Hano43, recognizes the P2X purinoceptor 7 (P2X7). The P2X7 ATP receptor has a distinctive long C-terminal tail with multiple potential protein and lipid interaction motifs and is highly polymorphic.
Target Information
The gene product belongs to the family of purinoceptors for ATP. This receptor acts as a ligand-gated ion channel and mediates ATP-dependent lysis of macrophages through formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Activation by ATP may link cellular activity to changes in gene expression. Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been identified, most of which fit nonsense-mediated decay criteria.
