Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains characterized by the unique role of zinc and have diverse functions such as transcriptional activation or repression. Protein folding and DNA binding are governed by zinc ion coordination. ZMYM4 is overexpressed in human lung adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. Overexpression of a fragment of the 3'UTR of ZMYM4 mRNA, termed Cell Death Inhibiting RNA (CDIR), protects HeLa cells from IFN-gamma-induced apoptosis, suggesting ZMYM4 may play a role in tumorigenesis.
