Target Information

NME4 is a protein kinase that transfers a phosphate group from a donor molecule, typically the γ-phosphate of ATP, to an acceptor amino acid residue in a substrate protein. Through this mechanism, protein kinases mediate signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell motility, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The protein kinase family includes over 500 gene products and is classified into eight major groups based on catalytic domain sequences. The AGC kinase group consists of 63 kinases, including PKA/PKG (cyclic nucleotide-regulated), PKC (phospholipid-dependent), RAC/Akt (related to PKA and PKC), ARK (G protein-coupled receptor kinases), and RSK (ribosomal S6 kinases).
