Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
cGAS (Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase) is a nucleotidyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) from ATP and GTP, playing a key role in innate immunity.
Catalysis involves formation of both 2’,5’ and 3’,5’ phosphodiester linkages, producing c[G(2’,5’)pA(3’,5’)p] responses.
cGAS directly binds cytosolic DNA, activating synthesis of cGAMP. This second messenger binds and activates TMEM173/STING, triggering type-I interferon production.
cGAS is also involved in detection of bacterial DNA, cellular stress responses, DNA damage recognition, and regulation of cellular senescence.
