Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated by cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses. ASK1 activates MKK4 and MKK6, which in turn activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases. ASK1/MAPKKK5 is activated by TNFR and Fas through TRAF family and Daxx interaction. Overexpression induces apoptotic cell death, while catalytically inactive ASK1 inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
