Target Information

Caveolin-1 (CAV1) is a scaffolding protein within caveolar membranes that interacts directly with G-protein alpha subunits and regulates their activity. It is involved in co-stimulatory signaling essential for T-cell receptor (TCR) mediated activation. Caveolin-1 can bind with DPP4, inducing T-cell proliferation and NF-κB activation in a TCR/CD3-dependent manner. Mutations in the CAV1 gene are associated with congenital generalized lipodystrophy 3, pulmonary hypertension primary 3, and partial lipodystrophy/congenital cataracts with neurodegeneration syndrome.
