Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in immune complex clearance and cell-mediated cytotoxicity. The gene FCGR3A is similar to FCGR3B, both located on chromosome 1.
- Expression: FCGR3A is expressed on NK cells as a membrane glycoprotein; FCGR3B on PMN cells via PI linkage.
- Clinical relevance: Mutations are associated with Immunodeficiency 20, Herpes Zoster, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia.
- Variants: Alternatively spliced transcript variants encode different isoforms.
