Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody IgE21 recognizes the immunoglobulin E (IgE) class of antibodies. IgE levels in serum are naturally low and play a crucial role in allergic responses by binding to mast cells and basophils via the Fc epsilon receptor I, leading to histamine release. IgE is produced by terminally differentiated plasma B cells and basophils, existing in both soluble and membrane-bound forms, both recognized by IgE21.

Target Information

IgE is one of the five classes of immunoglobulins found in mammals. It consists of two heavy (epsilon) chains and two light chains. IgE mediates type I hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., hay fever, asthma, hives, anaphylactic shock) by binding to Fc receptors on basophils and mast cells. Crosslinking of IgE triggers degranulation and release of mediators responsible for allergic symptoms. IgE also contributes to immunity against parasitic infections.
