Target Information
Neurogenin 1 (NeuroG1) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor involved in determining cell type during development.
It plays a dual role in cell fate specification — promoting neurogenesis while inhibiting astrocyte differentiation.
NeuroG1 acts as a transcriptional activator for neuronal genes and inhibits gliogenesis by sequestering CREB-binding protein complexes and STAT transcription factors.
