Unless noted below, aliquots of the 5 µg, 10 µg, and 20 µg sizes of kinase are not recommended, as materials can be used directly from the original packaging until exhausted.
For larger sizes, reduce freeze/thaw cycles by preparing aliquots (below 20 µL aliquots are not recommended).
Do not store a diluted kinase.

Target Information

EIF2AK1 (HRI) is one of four kinases that specifically phosphorylate Ser51 of translation initiation factor eIF2-alpha in response to environmental stresses, leading to decreased protein synthesis.
Signaling by EIF2AK1 is initiated under low heme levels.
The HRI gene is localized to chromosome 7p22, where its 3' end slightly overlaps with the 3' end of the JTV1 gene.
The two genes are transcribed from opposite strands.
Kinase activity is induced by low heme levels and inhibited by the presence of heme.
