Target Information
HMGN3 binds to nucleosomes, regulating chromatin structure and chromatin-dependent processes such as transcription, DNA replication, and DNA repair.
It affects insulin and glucagon levels and modulates pancreatic gene expression related to insulin secretion.
Regulates the expression of glucose transporter SLC2A2 by binding to its promoter region and recruiting PDX1 and other transcription factors.
Also regulates SLC6A9, a glycine transporter affecting synaptic glycine concentration in the CNS.
May play roles in ocular development and astrocyte function.
