Target Information
SUPT5H is a component of the DRB sensitivity-inducing factor complex (DSIF), which regulates mRNA processing and transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II.
DSIF positively regulates mRNA capping by stimulating the mRNA guanylyltransferase activity of RNGTT/CAP1A and acts cooperatively with the NELF complex to enhance transcriptional pausing near promoter regions.
It promotes proper assembly of elongation-competent RNA polymerase II complexes and modulates transcriptional elongation in HIV-1 by interacting with Tat to suppress premature transcript release.
