Target Information
The zinc finger protein encoded by the FOG2 gene is a widely expressed member of the FOG family of transcription factors. Members of this family modulate the activity of GATA family proteins, which are key regulators of hematopoiesis and cardiogenesis in mammals. The protein can both activate and down-regulate GATA-target gene expression, depending on promoter context. A related mRNA suggests an alternatively spliced product, though this is not fully supported by available sequence data.
