Target Information
RPL5 encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit. It belongs to the L18P family and is located in the cytoplasm.
RPL5 binds 5S rRNA to form the 5S ribonucleoprotein particle (RNP), essential for transport of nonribosome-associated 5S rRNA to the nucleolus for ribosome assembly.
Additionally, RPL5 interacts specifically with the beta subunit of casein kinase II.
