Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal candidates.
Advantages include:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody specifically recognizes Mouse Cathepsin A/CTSA.

Target Information

The cathepsin family includes diverse proteolytic enzymes classified into several protease types:

  • Cysteine proteases: Cathepsins B, L, H, K, S, O
  • Aspartyl proteases: Cathepsins D, E
  • Serine proteases: Cathepsin G

Cathepsin A, a serine carboxypeptidase, forms a lysosomal complex with β-galactosidase (β-gal) and α-neuraminidase (Neu1), protecting them from intralysosomal proteolysis.
Deficiency of Cathepsin A leads to reduced β-gal and Neu1 activity.
The human Cathepsin A gene maps to chromosome 20q13.12, and mutations cause galactosialidosis, a lysosomal storage disorder.
