Target Information
Nucleoporin Nup35 (Mitotic phosphoprotein 44) is a nuclear protein associated with the nuclear pore complex (NPC) and nuclear membrane. It belongs to the Nup53 family and contains an MPPN (mitotic phosphoprotein N-terminal) domain.
NUP35 has a few scattered phenylalanine-glycine repeats, unlike other nucleoporins with large FG domains. Although its precise function is not fully understood, it likely acts as a structural component of the NPC and may facilitate interactions with nuclear transport factors. NUP35 is expressed in most tissues and may also play a role in the association of MAD1, a transcriptional repressor, with the NPC.
