Mouse anti-Pig CD18a, clone PNK-I recognizes porcine CD18a.
Target Information
CD18 integrin beta 2 subunit is a 90 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leukocytes.
CD18 combines with integrin molecules CD11a–c to form heterodimers at the cell surface, participating in cell adhesion and signaling.
These heterodimers include:
- αLβ2 (CD11a/CD18, LFA-1)
- αMβ2 (CD11b/CD18, Mac-1, CR3)
- αXβ2 (CD11c/CD18)
- αDβ2 (CD11d/CD18)
These integrins are essential for proper leukocyte migration and intercellular contact.
Absence of CD18 leads to leukocyte adhesion deficiency-1 (LAD1).
CD18 is also targeted by Mannheimia haemolytica leukotoxin, mediating cytolysis.
Defects in the CD18 gene cause LAD1, and two transcript variants encoding the CD18 protein have been identified.
