Target Information
The ATR protein is a serine/threonine kinase and DNA damage sensor that activates cell cycle checkpoint signaling upon DNA stress. It phosphorylates and activates several proteins involved in the inhibition of DNA replication and mitosis, promoting DNA repair, recombination, and apoptosis. ATR is also crucial for fragile site stability and centrosome duplication. Defects in this gene are associated with Seckel syndrome 1.
