AMPK는 α 촉매 서브유닛과 β, γ 비촉매 서브유닛으로 구성된 헤테로트리머 효소로, 세포의 에너지 상태를 감지하는 중요한 효소입니다.
대사 스트레스 상황에서 AMPK는 활성화되어 acetyl-CoA carboxylase(ACC)와 HMG-CoA reductase(HMGCR)를 인산화 및 불활성화함으로써 지방산 및 콜레스테롤의 생합성을 조절합니다.
이 β2 서브유닛은 AMPK 활성을 양성으로 조절하며, myristoylation과 phosphorylation은 효소 활성 및 세포 내 위치에 영향을 미칠 수 있습니다. 또한 AMPK 복합체의 결합을 매개하는 어댑터 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
