AMPK는 α 촉매 서브유닛과 β, γ 비촉매 서브유닛으로 구성된 헤테로트리머 효소로, 세포의 에너지 상태를 감지하는 중요한 효소입니다.
대사 스트레스 상황에서 AMPK는 활성화되어 acetyl-CoA carboxylase(ACC)와 HMG-CoA reductase(HMGCR)를 인산화 및 불활성화함으로써 지방산 및 콜레스테롤의 생합성을 조절합니다.
