Target Information
The STAT5B protein belongs to the STAT family of transcription factors. Upon cytokine or growth factor stimulation, STAT proteins are phosphorylated, form homo- or heterodimers, and translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators. STAT5B mediates signaling from ligands such as IL2, IL4, CSF1, and various growth hormones. It plays roles in TCR signaling, apoptosis, mammary gland development, and liver gene expression. STAT5B-RARA fusion has been observed in a subset of acute promyelocytic leukemias (APLL), and dysregulation of this pathway may contribute to disease.
