Target Information

G-protein beta subunit-like (GBL protein) is a member of the WD-40 protein family, a highly conserved cytosolic protein with seven WD-40 repeating motifs. LST8 is a component of the mTOR signaling complex (TORC1) and positively regulates the mTOR pathway by interacting with the kinase domain of mTOR and stabilizing its interaction with raptor.
It plays a role in cell growth regulation and nutrient/growth factor-mediated signaling to S6K1. LST8 expression is upregulated by insulin, suggesting involvement in insulin-receptor activation processes such as glucose transport and glycogen synthesis. Northern Blot analysis shows ubiquitous expression, with highest levels in brain and testis.
