Target Information
The ACTA1 gene encodes alpha actin, a skeletal muscle protein belonging to the highly conserved actin family. Actins play crucial roles in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Alpha actin is a major component of the contractile apparatus, while beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility. Mutations in ACTA1 are associated with various congenital myopathies, including nemaline myopathy type 3 and fiber-type disproportion.
