EPHA6는 ephrin receptor 하위군에 속하는 단백질-티로신 키나아제로, 축삭 유도(axon guidance), 뉴런 간 상호작용, 뇌의 영역화(regional compartmentalization), 시냅스 기능 등과 관련이 있습니다. EPHA6는 뇌와 고환에서 높은 발현을 보이며, 외부 생식기 형성에 영향을 미치는 Hypospadias에서 감소된 발현이 보고되었습니다. 마우스 모델에서 EPHA6의 유전적 억제는 학습 및 기억과 관련된 행동 결손을 유발하며, 훈련 상황의 결과에 대한 기억 능력이 감소합니다.
