SYTL5는 synaptotagmin-like (Slp) 단백질 패밀리에 속하며, N-말단에 Slp homolog domain (SHD)을 포함합니다. SHD는 Rab27A 결합 부위로 작용하며, 단백질 수송에 관여합니다. SYTL5의 발현은 주로 태반과 간에서 제한적으로 나타나며, Rab27A-의존성 막 수송에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. Synaptotagmin 패밀리의 여러 구성원은 세포 이동을 매개하는 칼슘 감지 소포 융합 단백질로 알려져 있습니다. SYTL7 및 SYTL5는 화학주성의 양성 조절자이며, SYTL2는 음성 조절자로 작용합니다.
