Target Information

IL-15 (Interleukin 15) is a cytokine that regulates T and natural killer (NK) cell activation and proliferation.
IL-15 and IL-2 share common hematopoietin receptor subunits and may compete for the same receptor, thereby regulating each other’s activity.
IL-15 induces activation of JAK kinases and phosphorylation of STAT3, STAT5, and STAT6.
In mouse models, IL-15 increases expression of apoptosis inhibitor Bcl-xL, potentially through STAT6 activation, preventing apoptosis.
It plays a crucial role in growth and differentiation of T/B lymphocytes, NK cells, macrophages, and monocytes, and contributes to immune responses, allograft rejection, and autoimmune pathogenesis.
IL-15 is also implicated in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and pulmonary inflammation.
Neutralization of IL-15 has shown beneficial effects in models of psoriasis and diabetes, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target.
