Target Information
The ATF1 gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream target gene expression involved in growth, survival, and cellular activities. The protein is phosphorylated at serine 63 in its kinase-inducible domain by several kinases, enhancing its transactivation and transcriptional activities. Gene fusions involving ATF1 (with FUS or EWSR1) are associated with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 6.
