Target Information
The PBX1 gene encodes a nuclear protein belonging to the PBX homeobox family of transcription factors. Studies in mice indicate involvement in osteogenesis regulation and skeletal patterning. A t(1;19) chromosomal translocation involving PBX1 and TCF3/E2A is associated with pre-B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, producing a fusion protein that constitutively activates transcription. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
