Target Information
Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily that includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3. ERBB4 is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
ErbB4 mediates signal transduction involved in metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
It is predominantly expressed in breast carcinoma cell lines and tissues such as skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum.
Higher expression levels are observed in T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474, and H3396 cell lines, while low or absent expression is found in MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468, and SKBR-3.
Elevated ErbB4 levels in certain tumor cell lines suggest its potential role in malignancy.
