Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the kinesin 4 or subfamily of kinesin-related proteins, also referred to as chromokinesins. The encoded protein is an ATP-dependent microtubule-based motor protein involved in intracellular transport of membranous organelles. It associates with condensed chromosome arms and helps maintain chromosome integrity during mitosis. It may also contribute to the organization of the central spindle prior to cytokinesis. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome X.
