Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing DNA replication when integrity is compromised. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network, ensuring genomic stability under genotoxic stress.
Inhibition of CHK1 can induce mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis in p53-deficient cancer cells, making CHK1 an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, as approximately 50% of human cancers are p53-deficient.
