Target Information
O6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase (MGMT) is a key DNA repair protein that contributes to tumor cell resistance against chemotherapeutic alkylating agents. MGMT protects normal cells from genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of DNA alkylation by removing alkyl groups from the O6 position of guanine.
Expression levels of MGMT vary depending on cell type, tissue, species, and growth characteristics, and activity differs among tumor groups and within specific tumor types.
