APC10 is a highly conserved component of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a cell cycle-regulated E3 ubiquitin ligase controlling progression through mitosis and G1 phase.
APC/C degrades anaphase inhibitors, mitotic cyclins, and spindle-associated proteins, ensuring proper sequence of mitotic events.
APC/C component mRNA and protein levels are expressed similarly across tissues and cell lines, functioning as part of a complex.
APC10 may regulate substrate binding to the APC/C complex, similar to coactivators.
