Target Information
ZFPM1 is a transcription regulator that plays an essential role in erythroid and megakaryocytic cell differentiation.
It acts as an essential cofactor forming heterodimers with GATA family transcription factors (GATA1, GATA2, GATA3).
These heterodimers can activate or repress transcription depending on cellular and promoter context.
They activate genes such as NFE2, ITGA2B, α- and β-globin, and repress KLF1 expression.
ZFPM1 may also regulate genes in gonads and contribute to cardiac development in cooperation with ZFPM2/FOG2.
