• Specificity: ABS 044-53-02 binds human GLP-1 (9-36) amide.
  Shows less than 2% cross-reactivity with GLP-1 (7-36) amide based on inhibition ELISA.
• Reactivity: Binds free GLP-1 (9-36) amide in solution.
  Higher affinity for GLP-1 (9-36) amide than ABS 044-49-02, as determined by inhibition assay.

Target Information

GCG is also known as GLP1 or Glucagon.
Glucagon is a 29-amino acid pancreatic hormone that counteracts insulin’s glucose-lowering action by stimulating glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis.
It is mapped to 2q36–2q37. GLP1 (7–37) encodes the preproglucagon molecule, rendering pancreatic beta-cells glucose-competent and may be useful in the treatment of noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
GLP1 is a potent insulin secretagogue and plays a major role in the enteroinsular axis, explaining why plasma insulin levels after oral glucose intake are higher than those observed after intravenous glucose administration.
