FHOD3는 actin cytoskeleton 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 formin homology family의 새로운 구성원입니다.
이 단백질은 DAD (diaphanous auto regulatory) 도메인, FH1 (formin homology 1) 도메인, FH2 (formin homology 2) 도메인, GBD/FH3 (Rho GTPase-binding/formin homology 3) 도메인을 포함합니다.
FHOD3는 세포질 단백질로 주로 actin 섬유에 위치하며 일부는 필라멘트성 염색을 나타냅니다. 총 1422개의 아미노산으로 구성된 formin 관련 actin-organizing 단백질로, 스트레스 섬유 형성과 세포 신장에 관여할 수 있으며 nestin/NES 기반의 중간 필라멘트(IF)와 연관될 수 있습니다. FHOD3의 발현은 주로 심장, 신장, 뇌에서 관찰됩니다.
