Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with beta-2 microglobulin. It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, and interdigitating cells, as well as in certain T-cell malignancies and histiocytosis X.

CD1a is structurally related to MHC proteins and forms heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. CD1 family proteins mediate the presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes (CD1a–e) organized in a cluster on chromosome 1, differing in localization and ligand specificity. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternatively spliced variants have been observed, though their biological significance remains unclear.
