Target Information
SATB2는 핵 매트릭스 또는 스캐폴드 결합 DNA 영역에 결합하는 DNA 결합 단백질로, 이중가닥 DNA의 당-인산 골격 구조를 인식합니다.
이 단백질은 MARs(matrix attachment regions)에 결합하여 염색질 루프 구조를 재조정함으로써 핵 내 유전자 발현을 조절하는 전사 인자입니다.
SATB2는 크로마틴 리모델링 효소(HDACs, HATs 등)를 프로모터 및 인핸서 부위로 모집하여 전사 활성 또는 억제에 관여합니다.
또한 뇌 피질 발달 과정에서 상층 뉴런(UL1) 유전자 발현을 유도하고, 하층 뉴런(DL) 및 UL2 유전자 발현을 억제함으로써 corticocortical 연결 형성에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
SATB2 유전자 변이는 구개열(Cleft Palate Isolated, CPI)과 관련이 있습니다.
