Target Information

Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor (PEDF)는 신경영양, 항혈관신생, 항종양 특성을 가진 비억제성 세린 단백질(serpin)입니다. 약 50 kDa의 당단백질로, 인체 여러 조직에서 생성 및 분비됩니다. PEDF는 증식성 내피세포의 세포사멸(apoptosis)을 유도하여 항혈관신생 작용을 나타내며, VEGF 및 FGF-2와 같은 혈관신생 인자의 활성을 억제합니다. 또한, 과산화물, 글루타메이트 등 신경독소에 의해 유도되는 신경세포 사멸을 억제하여 신경보호 효과를 발휘합니다. PEDF-R이라 불리는 리파아제 결합 세포막 수용체가 PEDF와 높은 친화도로 결합하며, 이는 serpin 계열 단백질 중 유일한 신호전달 수용체로 알려져 있습니다. PEDF는 연령 관련 황반변성(AMD), 증식성 당뇨망막병증(PDR) 등 혈관 관련 신경퇴행성 질환 및 다양한 혈관신생 관련 질환(암 포함)의 치료 연구에 잠재적 활용 가치가 있습니다.
