Product Specific Information

The G8.8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the 40 kDa mouse EpCAM (epithelial cellular adhesion molecule), also known as EGP40, 17-1A antigen, TACSTD1, and CD326. The immunogen used was the TE-71 thymic epithelial cell line. CD326 is expressed on most epithelial cells and considered a pan-carcinoma antigen. It mediates calcium-independent, homophilic cell-cell adhesion and may function as a growth factor receptor.

Applications Reported: This G8.8 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of the TE-71 cell line. Use ≤1.0 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Super Bright 436 is excited with a violet laser line (405 nm) and emits at 436 nm. Recommended filter: 450/50 bandpass or equivalent. Ensure instrument compatibility.

When using multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Target Information

Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues. It functions as a calcium-independent adhesion molecule influencing cell cycle and proliferation via activation of c-myc, cyclin A, and E. Ep-CAM overexpression is associated with increased epithelial proliferation and is highly expressed in human carcinomas, serving as a marker for epithelial lineage tumors. It is found on the basolateral surface of most simple epithelia and distinguishes adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
