Target Information
GPR83, a 423 amino acid protein, is an orphan member of the GPCR protein family and is closely related to tachykinin and NPY receptors. It is a human homolog of mouse GIR protein and is exclusively expressed and selectively up-regulated in the brain. It is a cell surface receptor protein consisting of a putative seven-transmembrane domain. Reports suggest GPR83 may be involved in the regulation of immune tolerance mechanisms by inducing peripheral generation of Foxp3+ Treg cells.
