Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TMPRSS3.
Target Information
The TMPRSS3 gene encodes a serine protease family protein containing a serine protease domain, transmembrane domain, LDL receptor-like domain, and scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain.
It is associated with congenital and childhood onset autosomal recessive deafness and is expressed in fetal cochlea and various tissues. TMPRSS3 is thought to play a role in the development and maintenance of the inner ear and has been identified as a tumor-associated gene overexpressed in ovarian tumors.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
