TGF-beta-activated kinase 1 and MAP3K7-binding protein 1 (TAB1)는 MAP kinase kinase kinase MAP3K7/TAK1의 조절 인자로, TGF beta, interleukin 1, WNT-1 등 다양한 세포 내 신호 전달 경로를 매개합니다. TAB1은 TAK1 kinase를 활성화하며, C-terminal 영역은 TAK1 결합 및 활성화에 충분하고, N-terminal 일부는 TGF beta의 음성 조절 인자로 작용합니다. 또한 MAPK14/p38alpha와 상호작용하여 MAPK14의 생물학적 반응에 대한 대체 활성화 경로를 제공합니다.
