이 유전자는 세린 프로테아제 SC 클랜의 S9B 패밀리에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다.
해당 단백질은 N-말단에서 Xaa-Pro 디펩타이드를 절단하는 포스트-프롤린 디펩티딜 아미노펩티다제 활성을 가지며, DPP4와 유사하지만 막 결합형이 아닙니다.
Dipeptidyl peptidases는 기질 단백질의 활성을 조절하며, 제2형 당뇨병, 비만, 암 등 다양한 질환과 관련이 있습니다.
이 유전자의 여러 전사 변이체가 보고되었으나 완전히 특성화되지는 않았습니다.
