Target Information

DjC9 (DnaJ subfamily C member 9) belongs to the Hsp40 (heat shock protein 40) family of proteins that function as co-chaperones to Hsp70.
Hsp40 proteins are classified into three main subfamilies (A, B, and C), defined by the presence of particular domains such as:

• Highly conserved alpha-helical N-terminal J-domain
• Glycine/phenylalanine-rich region
• Cysteine-rich region
• C-terminal beta-sheet containing domain

DjC9 is part of subfamily C that bears only the J-domain. It interacts with HSP70 through its J-domain and activates its ATPase activity.
