Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of total DGKD.

Target Information

Diacylglycerol kinases (DGKs) phosphorylate diacylglycerol (DAG) to produce phosphatidic acid. Both DAG and phosphatidic acid act as lipid second messengers in signaling cascades.
Different DGK isoforms exhibit distinct expression patterns and biological roles:

  • DGK-alpha: Regulates cell activation and exosome secretion, influencing cell death.
  • DGK-beta: Highly expressed in brain regions such as the caudate putamen and olfactory tubercle.
  • DGK-gamma: Expressed in various tissues, with highest levels in the retina.
  • DGK-delta: Abundant in skeletal muscle.
  • DGK-epsilon: Specific for arachidonyl-containing diacylglycerol, mainly in testis.
  • DGK-theta: Found in cerebellum and hippocampus.
  • DGK-iota: Predominantly expressed in brain and retina, with multiple transcript variants.
  • DGK-eta: Closely related to DGK-delta.
  • DGK-zeta: Abundant in brain and muscle.

DGKs contain structural motifs that play regulatory roles, forming the basis for classification into five subtypes.
