Product Specific Information

This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • High specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broad immunoreactivity due to the rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human SerpinB6.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the serpin superfamily, specifically the ovalbumin-serpin subfamily. It was originally identified as a placental thrombin inhibitor. The mouse homolog is expressed in the hair cells of the inner ear.

Mutations in this gene are associated with nonsyndromic progressive hearing loss, indicating its role in protecting inner ear cells from lysosomal leakage during stress. Loss of this protection can lead to cell death and sensorineural hearing loss. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
