Target Information

RB-like 1 (RBL1) is similar in sequence and possibly in function to the retinoblastoma 1 (RB1) gene product.
RB1 is a tumor suppressor protein involved in cell cycle regulation, phosphorylated during the S to M phase transition and dephosphorylated in G1 phase.
Both RB1 and RB-like 1 can form complexes with adenovirus E1A and SV40 large T-antigen, binding only in the unphosphorylated state.
They inhibit transcription of cell cycle genes containing E2F binding sites, suggesting that RB-like 1 also acts as a tumor suppressor.
