Target Information
The Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling (SOCS) and cytokine-inducible SH2 proteins are a family of intracellular proteins that regulate immune cell responses to cytokines.
SOCS1 suppresses dendritic cell (DC) and T cell hyperactivation by inhibiting JAK tyrosine kinase, essential for cytokine receptor signaling.
SOCS1 also exhibits E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, leading to polyubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins.
Through this mechanism, SOCS1 negatively regulates Toll-like receptor signaling (TLR2 and TLR4) by mediating degradation of the adaptor protein TIRAP.
