This antibody detects endogenous levels of total ATF1 protein.
Target Information
The ATF1 gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream target genes involved in cell growth, survival, and other physiological processes.
Phosphorylation at serine 63 by kinases such as PKA, CaMK I/II, MAPK, and CDK3 enhances its transcriptional activity and contributes to cell transformation.
Chromosomal translocations involving FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) can generate chimeric ATF1 fusion proteins, which are implicated in angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma.
A pseudogene of ATF1 exists on chromosome 6.
